National Family Festival 2026

Client: MSF

Year: 2026

National Family Festival 2026 was reimagined to encourage Singaporeans to spend more meaningful time together while making the festival more relevant to a broader spectrum of families. The rebranding responded to a clear need to move beyond a narrower, idealised view of family and create a more inclusive platform that could engage different life stages, family structures and communities through stories that feel real, familiar and recognisably Singaporean. To bring this shift to life, we developed a connected campaign ecosystem spanning narrative strategy, brand identity, key visuals, marketing and guerrilla activations, hero film, social and influencer strategy, event masterplanning, interactive exhibitions, participation journeys, microsite and a gamified NFF app. Anchored by “Family Begins With Me”, the new NFF turns the everyday realities of family life — closeness, tension, humour, care and connection — into a cohesive experience across physical, social and digital spaces.

Strategy & Branding: Singaporeans already value family deeply, but modern pressures often make family life feel crowded, chaotic and difficult to prioritise. The strategy reframes that tension through “Too Close, For Comfort” — turning the messiness, noise and friction of everyday family life into something warm, familiar and resilient — while “Family Begins With Me” gives that belief a personal, actionable starting point. The rebrand translates this thinking into a modular visual identity inspired by HDB windows, using flexible graphic “frames” to represent different life stages and family stories across Singapore. The key visual language then brings the strategy to life through candid, imperfect moments under the line “Sometimes messy, always worth it.” Together, the branding and imagery avoid idealised family portraits and instead celebrate the humour, tension, care and small acts of connection that make real families feel recognisable, relatable and worth showing up for.

Marketing & Event:  Storyteller helped turn National Family Festival 2026 into an integrated islandwide campaign that connected physical experiences with digital engagement. We brought Family Begins with Me into the heartlands through a guerrilla marketing activation, placing iconic Red Doors islandwide to transform everyday spaces into invitations for families to pause, connect and create meaningful moments together. At the heart of the festival, Storyteller also conceptualised the layout and design of the NFF Family Carnival @ Expo, Singapore’s biggest family carnival, translating the campaign message into an experience families could actively participate in. By extending these on-ground moments through strategic social content and distribution across Families for Life’s platforms, the campaign reached families wherever they were, ultimately drawing over 1 million participants and engaging more than 4 million people.

Content & Production: From profile sourcing and story development to production, execution and distribution, Storyteller led the creation of authentic, human-centred content that put real families at the heart of the campaign. Instead of simply communicating campaign messages, we uncovered relatable family moments and transformed them into stories audiences could recognise themselves in. This approach helped NFF achieve more than 600% of 2025’s organic performance and engagement rates 400% above industry benchmarks, demonstrating the effectiveness of human-first storytelling.

Impact & Outcome: The campaign succeeded not only in reaching audiences, but in getting them to respond, reflect and participate. Content generated over 25,000 organic shares, while Families for Life gained nearly 3,000 new followers across Instagram and Facebook. Most importantly, audiences began sharing their own family stories and echoing the campaign message in their own words. By making Family Begins with Me personal and relatable, Storyteller helped transform it from a campaign message into a conversation audiences actively made their own.
